Amy Schumer celebrates son's first birthday after being forced to change his rude name

Amy Schumer reached a milestone in her life today as her son Gene celebrated his first birthday.

The Trainwreck actress, 38, took to Instagram and Twitter to gush about her precious boy as he turned one year old today.

It came after Amy was forced to lose Gene's middle name of Attall as it made it sound like 'genital', and with his dad Chris Fisher's surname it sounded like 'genital fissure' all together.

But Amy put all that behind her as she posted a sweet snapshot of the pair sharing a cuddle as they snoozed the day away in lockdown together.

The photo - which has already received over 300,00 likes - sees a bare-faced Amy snuggle into baby Gene who couldn't look anymore peaceful if he tried.

A very tired Amy sports messy hair and a makeup free face as she catches some z's on her sofa in a casual maroon t-shirt.

Alongside her, baby Gene looks cuter than ever as he steals the show in a teddy-bear patterned onesie which his actress mother has paired with some very cute green shorts.

Amy's captioned the snap: "I'm really glad it was you. Hbd."

Amy welcomed son Gene with husband Chris in May 2019.

Speaking on the podcast 3 Girls, 1 Keith today, Amy said she and Chris decided to officially change the name they'd picked out for their boy after realising it sounded too much like 'Genital'.

The pair had named their boy after Amy's close friend and fellow comic Dave Attell, but from now on Gene Attell will go by the name of Gene David to avoid any confusion.

Amy explained: "Do you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name is officially changed?

"It’s now Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer, but we realised that we, by accident, named our son 'Genital'".

Its believed Gene's first name is a tribute to late actor Gene Wilder.

Happy birthday little Gene!
