Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Maya Rudolph joke about controversies surrounding host-less Oscars as night's first presenters

Just give them give them the hosting gig, already!

Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Tina Fey had the Oscars crowd laughing early Sunday night as they joked about the controversies surrounding the award show and gave viewers a taste of what it would be like had they been named the hosts.

"So, just a quick update, in case you're confused," Rudolph began. "There is no host tonight. There won't be a popular movie category, and Mexico is not paying for the wall."

Poehler then interjected, "That's right, and we won't be doing awards during the commercials, but we will be presenting commercials during the awards."

The former "Saturday Night Live" stars were the first presenters at the ceremony, which was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

They made multiple references to the fact that there was no host this year after Kevin Hart backed out following the resurfacing of homophobic tweets he had shared years in the past.

The trio then rattled off a series of jokes they would've told if they were the hosts, including Rudolph saying to the star of "Black Panther," "Hey, Chadwick Boseman, Wakanda plans do you have later?"
