Amy Parsons case: partner of Australian woman found dead in London charged with murder

Amy Parsons
The body of Australian woman Amy Parsons was found in a flat in London on Friday.

A Melbourne woman who was found dead in her London flat on Friday was allegedly murdered by her partner.

Amy Parsons, 35, was found dead in a flat in Crowder Street, Whitechapel, at 1.30pm on Friday.

Her partner, Roderick Deakin-White, 37, was arrested and was due to face the Thames magistrates court on Monday, charged with her murder.

Metropolitan police confirmed her death on Sunday, local time, and said her family in Australia had been notified.

“The arrested and the deceased are believed to have been known to each other,” police said. “At this stage, no other person is being sought in connection with this incident.”

The pair had been together for several years and are reported to have been planning a wedding.

One friend told Nine newspapers she was “one of the best people you could ever meet”.

Parsons appeared to have been living in London since 2012.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem is scheduled for this week.

A fundraising campaign is aiming to raise $20,000 to fly Parsons’ parents Leonie and Michael and sister Eve to London, and to fund the return of her body to Australia.

“Amy had been living in the UK for several years and at present time there is no family with her,” the fundraising page said. “Amy had so many friends all over the world, and she was the kindest soul. She was the most beautiful person. Amy was adventurous, intelligent, kind hearted, down-to-earth and loved by all who knew her.”

The page also mentioned the prevalence of domestic violence and said any leftover funds would “go to prevention work to create a future free from violence.”
