Amy Macdonald met Pope Francis yesterday – and would have made her gran Ellen proud.
The 33-year-old Pride singer was granted an audience with the pontiff before she performed at a Christmas concert in Vatican City.
Amy, from Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, posted a photo on Instagram. She was wearing a mask when Pope Francis greeted her at a
reception.
She said: “I’m not religious at all but my nana was and it’s such an awesome thing to be invited. I keep finding myself getting a little bit teary because I keep thinking, ‘I wish my nana was still here.’
“She would have been absolutely beside herself. What a crazy week, and a crazy year, this has been.”
