Amy Huberman says her third child being born at Christmas was 'magical' experience

Amy Huberman recalled welcoming her third child at Christmas 2020 was a magical experience.

The author, writer and actor got a festive surprise when Ted, who turns two later this month, arrived into the world 10 days early, just 48 hours after they celebrated Christmas Day at home.

Amy, 43, who’s married to Irish rugby great Brian O’Driscoll, told of the best Christmas present she has ever received. She told RSVP Live: “Two years ago, my son Ted was born on December 28 so it was a belated Christmas present.

“I kept hoping he wouldn’t be born on Christmas Day. He was a week-and-a-half early. So getting ready for Christmas now means we are getting ready for his birthday. They will always be intertwined.”

It was an unsettling time when Amy gave birth as Ireland had just entered its third lockdown and visitors were not allowed in hospital.

Amy added: “When I started getting contractions I thought I had just eaten too much. But they were timed and coming every 10 minutes, wasn’t that weird?

“I was in hospital then for New Year’s Eve and nobody was allowed in. It was a magical time though, just the two of us. We both wore little hats and my friend dropped in wine in a can.”

Amy is back working on the RTE and Acorn TV show Harry Wild with former Bond girl Jane Seymour. She said: “It is going great. I love being back on set and I love having Jane Seymour back in Ireland.

“This is the second season so we know the format of the show and what we are doing.

“Yeah, it is ‘pinch me’ moment working with Jane. She is so fun and she’s so generous with her time and energy. She wants to be a cheerleader for everyone else. It is a collaborative thing.

“When I met her the other day, she said, ‘Did you see that headline that said you were trying to kill me?’.

“The headline said: ‘Jane Seymour: Amy Huberman is trying to kill me’.

“I brought her to Wexford last summer and she had a broken knee so she couldn’t navigate the stones. I didn’t actually try to kill her.”
