Love Island's Amy says welfare officer had to climb in bed with her after she was dumped

Love Island star Amy Hart was so heartbroken when Curtis Pritchard dumped her in the villa that concerned ITV welfare officers would climb into bed with her to comfort her when she was at her lowest point.

The 26-year-old former air hostess was devastated when she was ditched by 23-year-old dancer Curtis on national television and she saw her mental health falter as a result.

Opening up to Heat Magazine as part of their Where’s Your Head At? campaign (raising awareness of mental health for World Mental Health Day on October 10), Amy said her appetite evaporated and she found herself unable to leave bed after having her heart torn apart.

The blonde beauty feared she was reverting to a time when she had an unhealthy attitude towards her diet when she suffered with anxiety while working as an air hostess.

“My previous anxiety issues manifested within food. I would order the biggest dinner you’ve ever seen and take one bite and start shaking, crying and saying I can’t eat this anymore,” she said.

“I felt like wasn’t in control of the rest of my life - I was convinced I was going to get sacked, so food was my control thing,” she continued.

Amy said she began to restrict her diet after being dumped, but ITV executives intervened to ensure she ate properly.

“I lost a stone in my first six months in BA and when Curtis finished with me I wasn’t hungry and wanted to control my [diet] again but ITV stepped in and made me eat as the psyche was watching me all the time,” she said.

Amy recalls that at her lowest point, she would lay in bed in tears, being comforted by an ITV welfare officer.

“The welfare girl came in every single lunchtime apart from one day a week to check how much water we were having, how much we’d eaten and how we were,” she explained.

“And when it all went tits up for me and I was lying in bed crying at lunchtime, she would get into bed with me and just stroke my head and talk to me and now I speak to her on the phone twice a week to check how I am,” she continued.
