Amway Coaches Poll released – Where’s Georgia, Alabama?

Georgia and Alabama are both sitting at 8-1 now following the Crimson Tide’s loss to LSU on Saturday.

There’s two big differences with the two records, though, and America is forced to take a side.

Georgia’s 8-1 includes two wins over teams that were then-ranked in the top-ten and a very ugly home loss to a South Carolina team that was unranked.

Bama’s record, however, shows zero wins over ranked teams and a forgivable loss to the No. 2 team in the country.

There’s an obvious spot for Georgia/Alabama, and it’s at the 4 and 5 position.

The coaches have decided, and in the latest edition of the Amway Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, they went with Alabama and its one good loss over Georgia and its two good wins.

Here’s the most recent Coaches Poll top-ten:

1. LSU

2. Ohio State

3. Clemson

4. Alabama

5. Georgia

6. Oregon

7. Minnesota

8. Oklahoma

9. Utah

10. Baylor

For Georgia, being ranked behind Alabama does not really matter at all, seeing as how if the Dawgs keep winning they are in the Playoff regardless.

But it does get the narrative started that Alabama is deserving of a free pass into the postseason even though its best win will end up being vs Auburn, assuming the Tide beat them at the end of the season.

Auburn, which Georgia plays next weekend on the road, is ranked No. 13 and will give the Bulldogs another impressive victory if they can pull it off.

Florida, which Georgia beat last week, is No. 12 and Notre Dame, an early season UGA win, is No. 16.

A win over Auburn and Georgia would have three top-16 wins in the Coaches Poll.
