AGRA: The dean students welfare office at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized a special ceremony, where 550 students were presented with tablets as part of the Uttar Pradesh "Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme 2023".
This initiative aims to empower students pursuing higher education by providing them with digital devices. Since 2021, a total of 3,550 tablets have been distributed under this scheme, benefiting students across various disciplines, said Omar S Peerzada, public relations officer of AMU on Thursday.
On the first day of the two-day program, Chandar Sheker, the city magistrate of Aligarh, and Prof. Abdul Aleem, DSW, AMU, distributed tablets to the B.Tech and Unani Medicine (Final year) students. Continuing the distribution on the second day on Thursday, Mohd Imran, Registrar of AMU, handed out tablets to P.hD and Postgraduate students.
Registrar praised the state government scheme as a commendable initiative towards the digital empowerment of youth in the state. He emphasized that students who are unable to afford such devices will now have access to the benefits provided by this smart-phone scheme.
PRO said, "The tablet distribution program will ensure that more students have the opportunity to benefit from this valuable initiative. AMU remains committed to fostering digital empowerment among its student community, and this endeavour exemplifies their dedication to this cause".
