Amsterdam plane makes emergency landing at Newcastle Airport after passenger's allergic reaction

An aircraft was forced to land at Newcastle Airport after a passenger suffered an allergic reaction during a flight.

The unscheduled stop was made by an easyJet plane flying to Amsterdam from Glasglow.

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 11.42am to a female patient who had taken ill after an allergic reaction.

"We sent a double crewed ambulance but she declined hospital treatment."

A spokesperson for easyJet said: "We can confirm that flight EZY6853 from Glasgow to Amsterdam diverted to Newcastle due to a passenger on board requiring urgent medical assistance.

“The aircraft was met by medical services on arrival in Newcastle and will now continue to Amsterdam.

“The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew is always our highest priority.”
