DALLAS _ The health care industry's biggest staffing company is getting bigger.
AMN Healthcare Services Inc., which established a second headquarters in Dallas in 2017, will spend $200 million to buy Advanced Medical Personnel Services Inc., a Florida-based staffing firm that specializes in placing therapists and nurses in contract and permanent jobs.
The deal was announced Tuesday after the market close. The deal's value could increase by an additional $20 million based on Advanced's 2019 financial performance, the companies said.
Advanced recently launched a platform that provides therapists to large school districts for both on-site and telehealth services. Advanced's revenue is projected to be $140 million this year.
"Advanced will provide AMN the opportunity to enhance our offerings in some of the fastest growing and most important care settings," AMN Healthcare CEO Susan Salka said in a statement. "In addition to the attractive nature of their growing footprint in schools, we are excited about the potential of the recently launched telehealth platform for delivery of speech therapy to children across the country."
The deal is expected to close by early June.
Fast-growing AMN has doubled its annual revenue in the last four years, finishing 2018 at $2.1 billion. Its annual profit has risen 326 percent over the same period, from $33 million in 2014 to $141 million last year.
Based in San Diego and in Dallas' Cypress Waters office development, AMN was founded in 1985 as American Mobile Nurses Inc.
