Police have seized ammunition and a milling machine as part of investigations into fraudulent bushfire claims in Lake Macquarie.

The goods were seized by police from Strike Force Roche, which was established by several Northern Region police districts to investigate illegitimate claims for bushfire disaster relief and small business grants through government agencies.

Earlier this year, police charged a 37-year-old man for allegedly fraudulently obtaining $110,000 through government support grants. He remains before the courts.

As part of ongoing Strike Force Roche inquiries, Lake Macquarie police executed a search warrant on Wednesday at a home on McEwan Street, Belmont South, where they spoke with a 37-year-old man.

During the search, police seized a milling machine, which they believe was bought with fraudulently obtained funds. Officers also seized ammunition from the property.

The man was taken to Toronto Police Station and charged with one count of dealing with the proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear at Toronto Local Court on Wednesday, November 11.

Investigations under Strike Force Roche are ongoing across multiple police districts in the Northern Region.
