Megastar Amitabh Bachchan might be the boss of Indian television, but his wife of 48 years, Jaya Bachchan proved who's the real boss at home, as she appeared on the 1000th episode of Indian television's most successful show, Kaun Banega Crorepati.
The show began with Big B inviting two pretty ladies from his family for the special episode of kbc. His daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda and granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda sat on the much-talked about hot seat and left everyone impressed with their pleasing demenour, but it was Mrs Bachchan, who walked away with all the attention as she joined the trio via video conferencing.
Jaya made the most of the golden opportunity and made public, her disapproval of Big B's fashion sense.
Though the internet calls him the most stylish man in the country, who is known for his impeccable Italian suits, it seems like back home, he doesn't quite have many fans of his quirky style sense.
The very pretty Navya became the conversation starter, as she pointed out that her 'Nana' Amitabh looked all suave in his suit, a relief from from all the gowns he wears at home. “Ghar pe jab hum dekhte hain KBC—Mumma, main, Navya, Agastya—aapke style aur kapdo pe bahut charcha hoti hai (When we watch KBC at home; Mom, Navya, Agastya and I — we always discuss your dressing sense),” said Shweta, as Navya pointed out that they even make a ‘report card’ on Amitabh’s style.
The mother-daughter looked upto Jaya for endorsement, “Unko koi colours aap pe ache nahi lagte, woh directly bol deti hain (If she doesn’t like some colours on you, she doesn’t hesitate in saying so),” Navya said about her grandmother, Mrs Bachchan. Amitabh turned to his wife, and asked if Navya was telling the truth.
Making a face, Jaya said Jaya said, “Aapko khud ko maine kaha hua hai, ek toh maroon-brown pehente hain (I have told you about that maroon-brown thing you wear)” adding, “Aur ek jo violet colour ka suit pehente hain (Also, that that violet-coloured suit you wear).”
Amitabh tried to even out by pointing out that Navya was also wearing violet, but Jaya added, “Nahi, Nana ka kuch ajeeb sa mauve… Pata nahi, acha nahi lagta (Your grandfather has this mauve thing, it looks very bad).” Amitabh asked, “Aur hum jo violet pehente hain acha nahi lagta (And when I wear violet it doesn’t look good)?” Jaya replied, “Aap pe acha nahi lagta (Not on you).”
Amitabh reacted in a hilarious yet serious tone, and said that he doesn’t want to talk to Jaya any more. Jaya shot back, “Achi baat hai (That’s a good thing).”
