Amir Khan's wife takes swipe at "rude and annoying" Carl Froch over career earnings

Amir Khan's wife has hit out at "rude and annoying" Carl Froch after he made calls for the British star to retire after his defeat by Kell Brook.

The British star was defeated in brutal fashion by his bitter rival who scored a sixth round stoppage in Manchester.

Khan has now faced calls to retire from several people inside the sport, including from Froch.

But his wife Faryal Makhdoom has hit out at the former world champion on social media, tweeting: "I rarely ever say bad about anyone but I actually can’t stand Carl Froch. Simply rude and annoying. Wonder if it upsets him that Khan made more money than him."

Froch was part of Sky Sports' broadcasting team for the pay-per-view clash and delivered his immediate reaction to Khan's defeat calling for him to retire.

Khan has had an illustrious career in boxing winning two world titles while campaigning in America sharing the ring with the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

The 35-year-old took his net worth to around £35million after earning a significant purse for his domestic grudge match with Brook at the weekend.

Froch has previously suggested that his net worth estimate of around £15m is "accurate" which include his huge clashes against George Groves.

Khan's wife dropped a huge hint that her husband could retire posting another emotional message: "Thank you King Khan for all the excitement you brought to the sport of boxing. Without you British boxing wouldn’t be the same. You inspire us all."

Khan was visibly dejected after losing to his rival but was able to settle their grudge with a handshake as the pair were reunited backstage.

He has admitted that a decision will be made alongside his family in the coming weeks, but believes his "love" for the sport is dwindling.

“I need to sit down with my family, but it is more towards the end of my career," Khan said.

"The love of the sport isn’t there any more. That is a sign for me that I should maybe be calling it a day. No disrespect to Kell, he put on a great performance today and he came out to win.

"No excuses the better man won and he boxed out of his skin I have to say. I didn't expect that from him, especially from the fights I have seen before.

"At the end of the day we have rivalries but as I say after I punch them we can be friends. He put a great performance on and did everything he needed to.

"He was the best man tonight. I had a great, great training camp, but I just couldn't get going."
