Amir Khan's wife Faryal admits to secret punch up but hates watching him fight

She can’t bear to watch husband Amir Khan boxing in the ring because it’s “too tough” to see him get punched.

But Faryal Makhdoom admits she’s no stranger to landing a few blows herself...

She reveals to her gobsmacked husband during their fly-on-the-wall BBC documentary: “I got into a fight and punched someone. That girl pulled my hair.”

As Amir tries to coach his high school-brawling wife on throwing a good uppercut, the New Yorker quips: “I’m a Brooklyn chick, I know how to fight.”

Mum-of-three Faryal previously said she would never let their son, Zaviyar, go into boxing, and added: “I never watch Amir fight, ever.

“I don’t even watch after the fight’s over.

“I think it’s too tough.”

Amir’s mum Falak, who is battling pancreatic cancer, also struggles watching his bouts at ringside, preferring to view them from a hotel.

Amir says: “My mum hated me fighting. As the fights got tougher and harder, and she started seeing a bit of blood, that’s when she started to worry.

“When I won my first world title she said to me, ‘You’ve won a world title now. You should retire’.

“After the fight she always comes to the venue to see if my face is OK and if I’ve got any bruising or cuts.”

Commending her strength through gruelling chemotherapy treatment, he describes Falak as a “very strong woman”.

He adds with a smile: “A lot of people say, ‘Do you get your strength from your mum or your dad?’ And I say, ‘I get it from my mum. She’s got a good left hook’.”

Gaga's birthday surprise

Lady Gaga gushed that boyfriend Michael Polansky sent her “all the flowers in Rome” to celebrate her birthday, and it certainly looks like he gathered as many as he could in this whopping bunch.

The singer, who turned 35, is filming the House of Gucci, which will see her star as Black Widow Patrizia Reggiani. But she told tech boss Michael, 43: “I can’t wait to be home with you and our dogs, that’s all I need.”

The pair’s French bulldog pups Koji, Miss Asia and Gustav were recently found safe after being stolen in an armed robbery in which Gaga’s dog walker Ryan Fischer was shot. He is now recovering from “a very close call with death”.

Maya falls for radio prank

Poor Maya Jama was known at Radio 1 for being easily pranked on air. “This guy once texted in saying his name was Hugh Janus, and I read it so confidently,” the presenter tells the Straight Up podcast.

Bart Simpson-level banter from her listeners.
