Amir Khan's former trainer upset at being snubbed for Kell Brook fight

Amir Khan's former trainer was disappointed to not be called up to help with the preparations for his grudge fight with Kell Brook.

Long-time rivals Khan and Brook have been linked to fight each other for over a decade, but will finally meet this Saturday at the Manchester Arena.

Khan has been trained by Terence Crawford's coach Brian 'Bomac' McIntyre for the fight, with Crawford also helping Khan in training camp.

And Khan's former trainer Clarence Adams was surprised the Brit didn't reach out to him ahead of the fight.

"I thought I'd be getting a call from Amir to train him for the Brook fight. We still talk to this day, and we’re good, but it is what it is. I felt like we had a great vibe together and we did well together," Adams told MyBettingSites.

"I know for a fact if Amir was with me he’d beat Brook, but training with other people I'm not sure what the gameplan will be.”

"We were very successful and I think that we could have beaten Brook together, dealt with him well. I don’t know how the other guys are training him but he needs to box in a certain way to prolong his career and to beat Brook.

“Amir manages a fighter named Tal Singh, and he sent him to me to train because he knows I'm the f*****g best. That’s why I don't understand why he went to someone else for the Brook fight.

Singh, who is managed by Khan, was supposed to fight on the undercard of Saturday's event but was forced to withdraw due to an injury.

Adams, who trained Khan for his stoppage win against Billy Dib in 2019, has praised his former fighter for his habits outside of the gym.

Despite almost being 20 years deep into his fighting career, Adams think Khan has a lot left to show and has backed him to put on a great performance against Brook.

"Khan lives a very clean life and looks after himself. He’s in the gym all of the time. Amir is still fast and he’s got a better chin than Brook," Adams continued.

"Look at their fights with Crawford. Amir went rounds with Crawford and they eventually stopped it, Brook didn't last that long."

"Amir has a lot left because of the life that he leads, a clean life, other than gaining a bit of weight which we all do. It’s the life outside the ring that shows inside the ring."

Welterweight champion Crawford has backed up Adams' comments by stating Khan has been extremely disciplined in his preparations for the fight.
