Amir Khan reveals two key reasons he thinks he can beat Terence Crawford

Amir Khan heads into his fight with Terence Crawford on April 20 as a major underdog - but he insists his opponent has never faced anyone like him.

Khan is as wide as 10/1 with some bookmakers to dethrone the unbeaten WBO welterweight King and claim his third world title.

Crawford has barely put a foot wrong so far in his career yet Khan insists he has never taken on any opponents he wouldn't have beaten with ease.

The Bolton-born fighter also reckons his famed hand speed is unlike anything Crawford has never had to face in the past and could give him the edge in their huge showdown at Madison Square Garden.

Why Amir Khan thinks Terence Crawford is worried about world title fight

“It’s definitely a big factor,” Khan told the Guardian . “I don’t think he can deal with my speed. He has never faced anyone as quick as me.

“His last three opponents [José Benavidez, Jeff Horn and Julius Indongo] I would have beat easy.

"The only opponent of his you could pick out is Breidis Prescott [the Colombian who knocked Khan out in 2008] and that was late in Prescott’s career.

"I would have destroyed Prescott if I’d fought him then. Crawford’s taking a big step up against me. Compare his resume to mine and I am light years ahead.”

Khan has recorded two wins since returning from a two-year lay-off after his brutal knockout against Canelo Alvarez in 2016.

He knocked out Phil Lo Greco inside a round in April 2018 and outpointed Samuel Vargas last September but now steps back up to elite level in what is a huge fight as his career enters the closing stages.

“I am on the last chapter," the 32-year-old admitted. "So I only have a few more fights left in me. I want to get out before there’s any real damage.”
