Amir Khan responds to Manny Pacquiao's win over Keith Thurman

Amir Khan congratulated Manny Pacquiao for his win over Keith Thurman - but looks set to miss out on a fight with his one-time training partner.

Khan has been insistent that he and Pacquiao have signed contracts to meet in Saudi Arabia on November 8.

That has been denied by Pacquiao, and after being awarded a split-decision victory over Thurman on Saturday night, he said he will not fight again until next year.

Khan then took to Twitter and said: "A very well done to Mannuy Pacquiao, he put on a great show and finished strong. I didn't think it was a split. I had Manny winning unanimously."

Pacquiao dropped Thurman towards the end of the opening round and dominated the first half of the contest.

But the champion, 10 years his challenger's age at 30, fought his way back into the bout, narrowing the gap on the scorecards.

But Pacquiao found another gear when required and appeared set for a comfortable unanimous decision.

And while one judge did give Thurman the nod, the Filipino was awarded the fight by the other two and was able to begin his celebrations.

"I'm just blessed tonight, he’s not an easy opponent. I think next year [for my next fight], I have to go back to the Philippines to work," said Pacquiao.

Thurman added: "Pacquiao is a truly great champion. I wish I had a bit more output to go toe-to-toe.

"It was just behind Manny Pacquiao. I want the rematch.  "It was a blessing and a lesson."
