Amir Khan hits back at critics after Christmas tree snap sparks online abuse

Amir Khan hit back at trolls who flooded his family with abuse over a Christmas tree.

selfThe British professional boxer received vile messages after he shared a snap of him, his wife, Faryal Makhdoom, and two kids standing in matching pyjamas in front of a Christmas tree on Instagram.

"Happy holidays from mine to yours," he wrote. "Enjoy the festive season."

However, some social media users blaster Khan for getting in the spirit of a Christian holiday because he is a Muslim.

In response to the abuse, he used his Twitter account to hit back at critics.

He wrote: “So shocked by all the hate I'm getting on my Twitter & Instagram for wishing everyone Merry Christmas and posting a picture with my family in Christmas outfits.

"Just want to tell those people, I don't give a f**k.'"

Since sharing the social media post-Khan has been met with supportive messages filled with solidarity and kind words.

"You are allowed to celebrate Christmas as you wish," one wrote, "I hope you and your family had a lovely time."

Another added: “Christmas is about family. Doesn’t matter what religion you are from!”

A third tweeted: “Amir Khan should ignore the haters! I lived in Pakistan for a few years and Christmas was celebrated a lot and was great !”

Liverpool star Mo Salah has similarly been the target of sickening abuse after he shared a similar family snap in front of their tree.
