Anthony Davis has been saying all of the things you’d want to hear if you’re a Los Angeles Lakers fan over the last few days, except of course that he wants to stay with the team beyond this season.
Davis has been singing the praises of “not having to do everything” and has been enjoying easy reads to pass or shoot by working in tandem with LeBron James. But LeBron himself is an expert in playing in a contract year and knows all about keeping his options open. According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, one source close to Davis says The Brow’s feeling about his future with the Lakers is this: “Don’t f*** it up.”
Davis easily the biggest free agent that will hit the market this summer and he will have no shortage of options if he wants to explore potential opportunities beyond L.A.
But the Lakers currently hold all the cards and control their own destiny with Davis. If LeBron James and the team Rob Pelinka built around Davis can thrive and continue to make The Brow’s life easier, staying in purple in gold should be no problem.
