American woman goes viral for pointing out everyday items in Ireland that she finds strange

An American woman has gone viral after she pointed out seemingly normal everyday items in Ireland that differ from what she is used to.

The woman gave her followers a tour of her new accommodation after moving to Ireland to complete college.

Moving around the room, she shows viewers the elements around the room that just didn't make sense to her.

She said: "For those of you just joining, I just moved to Dublin from central Oregan for grad school.

"Now, first up, we've got this wardrobe instead of a closet. I've checked several times in there for Narnia and still have no luck.

"Then over here, we've got a window with no screen in it. Just open space, so I've yet to discover if they don't have bugs here or they just don't care, but it's pretty cool.

"I also have this door in my window just leading out onto nothing, and I don't have a balcony or anything, just this little handrail. So I guess this is so I can just stand there and scream into the night or something, I guess, or maybe I should be singing. I'm not sure, but it's pretty cool."

She then went on to point out that the bed only had a fitted sheet and a duvet, something she found strange.

She said: "And then back in my room here I've got two beds even though I'm living here alone. So what I've done is I've put both comforters on the same bed, and the reason for that is that's all I've got. They don't really have any sheets per se except for the fitted sheet on the mattress, so I've got both comforters on my bed because I'm always freezing."

Next on the list was the plug sockets.

The woman said: "Also the plugs are a lot bigger and the outlets are bigger and are a different shape.

"Through some trial and error, I discovered that you've got to flick that little switch in order to turn on the electricity.

"Speaking of outlets, there's none in the bathroom. No electrical outlets, no light switches, so I've finally found the light switch. It's right here, and it's upside down to what I'm used to. You flip up to turn it off."

Showing the difference between the dollar and euro notes, the woman said: "The money is fantastic. It's sparkly and colourful, and it looks like toy money."

Finally, the woman said she had been told never to call a lift an elevator.

"And then finally we've got this elevator right outside which I have been very sternly told to call a lift, not an elevator," she said.
