American tourist gets amazing Nessie tattoo after proposing to girlfriend at Loch Ness

A lovestruck American jetted more than 4000 miles to propose to his girlfriend on the banks of Loch Ness – before getting a celebratory Nessie tattoo.

Scotland fanatic Joseph Smith, from Missouri, got down on one knee to pop the question to Amber Franz.

She said yes and they have already set a date for the big day.

The couple were on a dream trip to Scotland where they toured Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness sampling haggis and other Scottish delicacies.

US Navy veteran Joseph then indelibly marked his life changing Scottish grand tour by getting a cartoon Nessie on his calf.

Dad-of-one Joseph, 41, said: “I was so happy, I was unsure about what her answer would be. Proposing is nerve-wracking.

“I love Scotland. We had so much fun. It was the trip of a lifetime. We will definitely have to come back.”

The big day is October 17, 2020.
