After failing to qualify for the 200-meter dash, Allyson Felix looks to win her lone individual medal of the 2016 Olympics on Monday night in the 400-meter run.
A six-time Olympic gold medalist heading into Rio known for her quick start out of the gates, Felix takes the lead early in races, forcing her opposition to respond early. This was evident at both the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, where she won gold by .41 seconds, and at last month's U.S. Olympic Trials.
Although Felix's claim to fame on the international stage has typically been the 200 meter (gold in 2012; silvers in 2008 and 2004), she began shifting to a 400-meter focus in 2015 and has been steady there since.
