'American soccer saviour' Christian Pulisic hailed as pranksters hijack Sergino Dest news

Ajax right-back Sergino Dest informed the world of a big decision he made on his career on Monday.

The 19-year-old was eligible for both Netherlands and the US national teams, but has decided to commit his future to the USA.

"I have chosen to play for Team USA going forward," he revealed on Ajax's Twitter account.

"I have based this decision on my feeling, however it was a tough one. It took me a long time to come to this decision.

"In the end it was a decision based on feelings and emotions and therefore, I chose Team USA."

Dest had already represented America at Under-17 and Under-20 level, and made two appearances for the senior side in friendly competition.

With the US national team, Dest will be hoping to form a stunning partnership down the right-hand side with Chelsea star Christian Pulisic.

And it's something the fans have noticed, too, with supporters quickly taking to the youngster's Wikipedia page to make a snappy edit.

The added information to his introduction reads as follows:

"Dest will team with the American Soccer Savior, Christian Pulisic, to lead to USMNT to its first World Cup victory, and people will name their children Christian Dest regardless of gender in honor therof. Such is his manifest destiny."

Pulisic has long been hailed as the biggest hope for America's national team following his move to Borussia Dortmund as a teenager.

And while things have not started as well as he may have hoped at Stamford Bridge following his £58million move, the hat-trick he scored against Burnley at the weekend has certainly given him some good will among Chelsea fans.
