American reality TV star Jon Gosselin was rushed to hospital after being bitten by a deadly spider while he was asleep.
The star of Jon & Kate Plus 8 was bitten by the brown recluse spider, which caused his leg to swell to twice its size.
Jon, 44, told The Sun he woke up in "excruciating pain" before adding: "It was really weird because when I looked at my leg I realised it was twice the size and there's a red-looking blister with a large red circle around it.
"The doc immediately knew the pain was from a brown recluse, which is a deadly spider.
"My entire leg had swollen up from the cellulitis.
"The doctor told me that I was lucky to come in because if you don't treat this you can lose limbs or die from a bacterial infection."
Jon shared pictures of himself in hospital with an oxygen mask over his face as well as one of the bite, which looked angry with a black centre and surrounded by red rings.
Jon said he's since had to call in the exterminator as the thought of the spider returning was 'freaking out' his daughter Hannah.
He is now said to be on the mend having taken a course of antibiotics.
Jon & Kate Plus 8 was an American reality television series starring Kate Gosselin, Jon, and their eight children, which premiered on April 4, 2007.
However the couple got divorced in 2009 and the final episode of the programme aired in 2009.
Speaking at the time Kate said: "Things got really bad – really bad.
"I looked at [Jon] and he looked at me and we were completely different people. Our visions changed.
"I signed up for a reality show; I didn't sign up to be a tabloid staple."
However the series was later renamed Kate Plus 8 2010 focusing on Kate as a divorced mother raising the children.
Talking about his bite ordeal Jon said he'd never been bitten by a spider unless you 'counted his wife Kate'.
