American rapper PnB Rock shot dead during robbery

American rapper PnB Rock was shot dead during a robbery at the Roscoe House of Chicken & Waffles restaurant in South Los Angeles on Monday September 12.

The Philadelphia musician, whose real name was Rakim Allen, was at the restaurant with his girlfriend.

Local police captain Kelly Muniz said the shooting took place at 1.15pm, the LA Times reported.

Muniz said the suspect threatened the victim, who she did not name, with a gun and demanded personal items from them.

Sources told the paper that Rock was targeted for his jewellery.

The suspect shot Rock almost immediately and fled to the carpark outside.

Rock was then taken to hospital and pronounced dead at 1.59pm.

LA police officials are still looking for the suspect, examining security video from the restaurant and neighbouring businesses to identify them or a getaway vehicle.

Born on December 9, 1991, Rock was 30 years old when he died.

The Philadelphia-born rapper was inspired to find a career in music when he listened to Drake’s Take Care at the age of 19.

Since then, he made a name for himself with viral songs such as 2015’s Fleek and collaborations with world-famous artists such as Ed Sheeran and Chance the Rapper.
