Unlike the British press, which made much of the fact that 2,500 American soldiers have lost their lives in Iraq, the U.S. national press was rather muted. It was in sharp contrast to last October when the 2,000th death was examined in terms of the dead soldiers and their families. This time the papers largely neglected the new toll or chose to concentrate on its political implications rather than the ruined human lives it represents. (Via CJR Daily)
