American living in UK shares British words and phrases that give her 'the ick'

An American woman living in the UK has called out Brits on their bizarre words and phrases that wouldn't slide in the states. TikTok user Meghan says the vast majority of phrases she's heard while living in London are "adorable", but a handful of others have given her "the ick".

The North Dakotan native divided opinions with her list, as some of her 470,000 viewers agreed wholeheartedly with her views, while others claims she's 'got it all wrong'. In her video, she said: "Most British words and phrases that I've encountered here are adorable. And also, you know, everything's cuter in a British accent, to be honest - but there are a few that disgust me.''

First on her list, she found issue with the term ''picky bits''.

She said: ''They use this to mean like finger foods or like a platter of food where you can just take parts that you want.''

Sharing her verdict on the phrase, Megan said: ''I just think that's a really disgusting way to say like a food platter or finger food.''

But she believes there's a word even worse than this, claiming "cuddle" is among the top offenders.

'Now, this is not when you're with your partner and one's big spoon, one's little spoon - this is when people call a hug, a regular hug, a cuddle.

''I will not give you a cuddle until you just call it a hug - then we'll talk about it.''

Later in her video, she called out Brits for using the word "goose pimples" rather than "goose bumps", which is more commonly used in the states.

''Why you gotta say pimple? Like, you don't. You really don't.''

Finally, she picked apart the term 'front bottom', saying: "This is what some people call lady parts... A front bottom."

Commenting on her video, one user said: "Cuddle is a lovely word. No British person will agree with you."

Another user added: "Front bottom is thee worst! But picky bits is a classic!"

A third user said: "Is anything worse than fanny pack though?"

One more user added: "Literally never heard anyone say goose pimples and if i saw that written I'd presume their American."
