American-inspired dive bar Billy Bootleggers to open in Nottingham city centre

A new American-inspired dive bar with live music, movie nights and apple pie moonshine will swing open its doors in Nottingham next month.

Billy Bootleggers will be rocking and rolling its way into Weekday Cross in the former home of the Gypsy Lounge - a 250-capacity venue which will be open seven days a week.

The drinks menu at Billy’s is certainly one for whiskey lovers, with 50+ bourbons, including some Billy has infused himself, not to mention his soon to be famous apple pie moonshine and picklebacks.

For non bourbon drinkers there's plenty of everything else too.

The brand originally launched in Newcastle and the people behind it said: "Nottingham has a great buzz about it and is well known for its live music scene.

“I know people are going to love everything Billy’s is about. It’s not American-themed, just American inspired and, although it’s based on a dive bar concept, expect a polished roughness rather than downright dirty!

“It’s a bit daft and lots of fun, it doesn’t take itself too seriously and you can drink picklebacks and moonshine, – what’s not to like?”

The bar is set to open on Friday, October 4, promising afternoon live music session Rockabilly Sundays and Billy's Big Night In movie nights, which includes screenings of iconic films like Blues Brothers, Rocky Horror and Home Alone, all with bottomless prosecco and beer included in the ticket price.

The team said: "We’ve also purchased an original American police car, so expect us to be doing something special with that on the streets of Nottingham soon... we might even raffle it off one day like I did with my Cadillac in Newcastle.”

Billy Bootleggers will be serving food all day until late from its ever-changing American-edge Hank menu, designed in conjunction with chef John Nellist.
