The new episodes of our favourite horror anthology series are already creating fan theories.
The new season of American Horror Story, subtitled 1984, is a homage to the slasher genre films of yesteryear, such as Halloween and Friday the 13th.
Series mainstay Emma Roberts returns in the role of Brooke Thompson, a fictional survivor from an attack by real-life serial Richard Ramirez (Zach Villa) who joins a group of attractive young people who visit a summer camp with a dark past.
While the premiere teased an attack by serial killer Mr. Jingles (John Carroll Lynch) and also Ramirez on a vendetta against Brooke, one fan thinks another killer is in our midst.
Taking to Twitter, one user wrote: "Hot take: In #AHS1984 the real mastermind/killer will be Cody Fern's 'Xavier' because he was offered the role of a serial killer for a TV special and, as he told us in this first episode - he trained at Stella Adler. He's method. This is preparing him for his role, obvi"
This does seem pretty plausible, considering that Xavier was the chief instigator of the group going to Camp Redwood where the slaughter of a whole camp's worth of people took place at the hands of Mr Jingles.
Could this all be a creepy game that Xavier is playing?
It would be the second victim that Cody Fern has played in the series, having taken on the part of the Antichrist himself Michael Langdon in the preceding season, Apocalypse.
