The US homeware brand Pottery Barn is launching in the UK, giving Londoners the chance to shop its items on the high street for the first time.
Pottery Barn will open a pop-up shop in the West Elm store on Tottenham Court Road this October to kick off the brand’s UK-wide launch.
The American favourite, known for its furniture, bedding and other home accessories, is also set to offer items nationwide which can be ordered from its new UK site.
Products offered to the UK market for the first time since the brand was created 75 years ago include decadently patterned bedding and cushions, seasonal table decorations and ceramics.
The brand will also launch in John Lewis stores later this year.
Shoppers in the UK are set to have access to Pottery Barn’s Design Crew service, free one-to-one appointments with the brand’s design experts, both in-store and online.
Pottery Barn famously featured in an episode of the American sit-com Friends, during which Rachel pretends a new piece of furniture she bought from the brand is an antique to appease her friend Phoebe, who hates purchases from chain stores.
Speaking about the brand in an interview with The Times, Pottery Barn’s president, Monica Bhargava, said: “It is about comfort, style, quality and building memories.
“We have established such a unique and, I think, beautiful, warm place in the hearts of people here. I think it’s part of the American design zeitgeist.”
She added: “Our pieces are meant for everyday homes. I want you to use them. I want you to love them.”

Pottery Barn is owned by American retail giant Williams-Sonoma, which says it’s looking at Britain as its next big market.
The parent company also has other websites live in the UK, including Pottery Barn Kids and West Elm, along with two West Elm stores.
In a statement, Williams-Sonoma chief executive Laura Alber, said: “We’re excited to bring Pottery Barn’s timeless design and quality craftsmanship to the UK through a dedicated website that reflects our brand values and showcases our passion for incredible products.
“For decades, Pottery Barn has stood for exceptional design and sustainability, and this launch allows us to share that heritage with a new community of customers who appreciate well-crafted and curated homes.”
