American bulldog freezes like a statue in hilarious reaction to the vet's cone of shame

An American bulldog's desperate battle to avoid having to wear the cone of shame has been captured in an amusing viral video.

It's no secret that most dogs really aren't a fan of having to wear medical cones to stop them biting and aggravating any injuries.

And adorable Mushu, an American bully, may be one of the least fond dogs when it comes to wearing the cone though, as this amusing video shows.

The clip, which was uploaded by TikTok user @mushu0716, shows just how nervous the dog is about wearing the cone, freezing like a statue as soon as it is put on him.

Mushu initially fled to the other side of the room to avoid the cone (@mushu0716)
But the American bully couldn't avoid his fate and the cone went on (@mushu0716)

At the start of the video, Mushu shows his apprehension, initially refusing to sit still in order to be fitted with the cone.

He flees to the corner of the room, but here he is stopped and the inevitability of the cone begins to set in.

When Mushu pauses and allows the cone to be placed around his head, he instantly adopts a hilarious shocked-looking expression, with his eyes stuck wide open and body totally frozen.

The dog refuses to move while the cone is adjusted, continuing to stare widely while remaining stiff and almost stuck in place, baffled by what's going on.

As if the American bully’s initial reaction wasn’t enough to hammer home his dislike for the cone of shame, his refusal to even eat a treat brings home the realisation to his owner.

On two occasions they attempt to give Mushu a treat, but the traumatised pup refuses to bite, simply ignoring the offer.

The amusing clip was a huge hit on the video sharing platform, with over 16 million views and over 2.6 million likes.

Viewers were clearly amused by Mushu’s reaction to the cone, with one user commenting: “Legend has it he never moved from that spot ever again.”

A second commenter wrote: “The cone took away his ability to blink.”

A third added: “That’s one scared martini glass.”

The United Kennel Club describes American bullies as a breed as a confident companion, with a gentle and friendly demeanour, although Mushu’s confidence clearly took a hit in this clip.
