America's tallest man reveals he needs life-threatening heart surgery

The US' tallest man broke down in tears while revealing he needs heart surgery and is unsure he will survive.

Igor Vovkovinskiy, a 7ft 8" Ukrainian-American actor, posted the emotional YouTube video of himself in hospital in which he revealed he needs an operation to fix a valve condition he was born with.

In a teary message, he told his followers: "I don't know how much longer I'm going to be in the hospital, for that matter I don't know whats gonna happen really for the rest of my life.

"I'm in the heart failure unit and I found out just a couple of days ago that I need surgery to fix some kind of valve issue I was born with, but i don't know if such a surgery can even be done on someone my size."

He went on to say he should get more information next week, before revealing his hospital stay had been "hell" as the bed is too small for him to sleep.

Igor, who has appeared in several films - notably 2011 comedy Hall Pass - then opened up about his past struggles, adding: "I thought I've had enough bad things happen to me in my life.

"I thought I've had enough trials and tribulations in my life, and now I get this news dumped on me."

Igor's height is reportedly due to a tumor pressing on his pituitary gland, which causes his body to release excessive amounts of growth hormone.
