Donald Trump is now the de facto president of Venezuela. In a colossal breach of international law, over the weekend, American troops seized former president Nicolás Maduro, spirited him out of the country, and he’s now languishing in a New York jail cell.
As per the Trump administration, they’re going to run the country, which presumably means stripping it of its oil and mineral wealth while installing a puppet leader who’ll do whatever Trump says. Or else.
As such, it seems that the “rules-based” order that’s technically kept peace since World War II is now a thing of the past. Now every other country that Trump has previously threatened is feeling the heat, and none more so than Greenland.

Greenland is a territory of Denmark, but Trump has been clear that he intends to invade and seize it for America. Now, in the wake of what just happened in Venezuela, Denmark and Greenland are grimly realizing that he’s entirely serious. Now the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has launched a pre-emptive strike, saying Trump has “no right” to invade:

JUST IN: Denmark’s Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, said in a statement responding to Trump regarding Greenland:

It makes absolutely no sense to talk about the need for the United States to take over Greenland.

They go on to plead with Trump that Denmark is a close ally of the United States, and any invasion would shatter their mutual defense agreements:
“The Kingdom of Denmark – and thus Greenland – is part of NATO and is therefore covered by the alliance’s security guarantee. We already have a defense agreement between the Kingdom and the United States today, which gives the United States wide access to Greenland. And we, on the part of the Kingdom, have invested significantly in security in the Arctic. I would therefore strongly urge the United States to stop the threats against a historically close ally and against another country and another people who have said very clearly that they are not for sale.”
All this is for show. Frederiksen knows full well that the Trump administration simply doesn’t care if invading and seizing Greenland breaks international law or goes against mutual agreements.
The Trump administration philosophy is, simply, “might makes right”. Even if the Danish military could theoretically repel American soldiers they wouldn’t, as doing that would risk shattering the NATO alliance and leave Europe vulnerable to Vladimir Putin.
Expect Trump to invade Greenland extremely soon. There’ll be wailing from around the world that he’s not allowed to do it, but with both China and Russia seeing Trump’s actions as a license to invade other territories they’ve long coveted, nobody’s going to stop him.
