Ambulance service statement on 'serious medical emergency' in Bristol

Ambulances descended on Bristol city centre after a "serious" medical incident.

Emergency services were called to St James' Park at 9.44am today (October 25) after the alarm for a man needing treatment was raised.

He was taken to hospital by land ambulance for further care.

An eye-witness wrote on Twitter: "CSI teams and ambulances dominating the park outside Bristol bus station, not looking good."

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.44am about a serious medical incident at St James’ Park, Bristol.

"We treated a male patient at the scene and conveyed him to hospital by land ambulance for further care."
