Ambulance service says car crashing through station wall has 'not adversely impacted' patients

Ambulance services have not been affected after a car crashed through Keynsham station's wall, the trust said.

A car ploughed through the station's wall on West View Road leaving a gaping hole.

The driver allegedly 'absconded' following the incident at 2.42am on Sunday, May 23

The white car was wrecked in the crash and teams from Avon Fire and Rescue Service make the wall stable.

Pictures show the car and debris scattered around the inside of the station in the aftermath of the incident.

Now, the ambulance service has confirmed it is able to continue running normal services for patients.

A South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust spokesperson said: “We were informed on Sunday at 2.42am about a single-vehicle collision at our Keynsham station.

"None of our colleagues were injured, and the driver left the scene.

“Avon Fire and Rescue Service secured a large hole in the building, and other areas of the site were unaffected.

"We are assessing how long it will take to rebuild the damaged wall.

“We would like to reassure people that this incident has not adversely impacted our service to patients.

“Avon and Somerset Police are trying to identify and find the driver.

"Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting reference number 5221112892.”

Hicks Gate Fire Station fixed up the hole using plywood after responding to the "danger structure" as the wall was left unstable.
