'Ambitious' Meghan Markle is looking to take Oprah's crown, a PR expert says

Meghan Markle is full of ambition and could be looking to take Oprah Winfrey's crown, according to a PR expert.

The Duchess of Sussex turns 40 tomorrow and is now more than a year into her post-royal life after quitting The Firm with husband Prince Harry.

Since then, the pair have moved to California, signed several multi-million dollar deals with the likes of Netflix and Spotify and Meghan has released a children's book while Harry teases his memoir.

They also sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a tell-all interview that sent shockwaves through royal circles.

And now a PR expert says he would not be surprised if Meghan has set her sights on achieving even bigger things.

Andy Barr, who has worked with brands in the US, told Closer magazine : "Meghan is 100 per cent the driving force behind this power couple – she has a lot of ambition and a lot she wants to achieve.

"I fully expect them to have their own production company within five years and to be bigger than their A-list peers who are floating around Hollywood right now. I believe she’s looking to take Oprah’s crown – which is ironic, considering she’s given them a foothold in America.

“I really would not be surprised if, ultimately, Meghan has her sights set on bigger things, such as political ambitions – even running for President."

His comments come after a royal expert warned that Meghan and Harry's books and podcast deals mean they face the threat of running out of currency.

Last month it was announced that Harry is to release an "accurate and wholly truthful" memoir next year that will share the "experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him".

And appearing on True Royalty TV's the Royal Beat, Vanity Fair's royal editor Katie Nicholl asked what Harry and Meghan would have left to share once these deals have been done.

She said: "I think the biggest threat to Harry and Meghan, once these book deals are done and the podcasts are done and Spotify, then what is their currency?"

Meanwhile, it has also been reported that royal biographer Tom Bower will be releasing a book about Meghan next year.

The 74-year-old writer reportedly signed a six-figure advance last year to pen an unauthorised account of her.

He told the Express : "I'm writing it now. It will tell the truth when it comes out next year."
