Ambitious Ayrshire teenager opens 'exclusive' pop-up clothing shop in Glasgow's Princes Square

A Kilmarnock teenager has opened a pop-up store that sells only exclusive brands of shoes and streetwear in Glasgow's plush Princes Square shopping centre.

Taylor McNeillie launched his brand Empire in March 2013 and is now one of Scotland's leading suppliers of exclusive shoes and streetwear.

The 18-year-old entrepreneur has bagged brands such as the coveted Yeezy trainers designed by Kanye West and Nike Air Jordans.

However, shoppers had better be quick to grab their high-end apparel as the pop-up store's last day of selling will be on Saturday, January 8.

Empire leads the way to help festive shoppers hunt down rare designs and even stock cult streetwear brand Supreme.

Commenting on the new store opening, Taylor said: “I have been working every day to provide the fastest and most reliable trainer service in Scotland and now, with over 4,000 happy reviews, Empire has the largest reputation in Scotland.

"This winter, I wanted to do something special and chase my dream of opening a sneaker store.

"I have teamed up with Princes Square to bring a 10-week pop-up shop selling some of the world’s most popular and exclusive trainers.”

From a young age, Taylor was always fascinated by business and making money and at 12 years old he re-sold his first pair of Yeezy's online for triple the original £150 price tag.

Four years later, Taylor launched his very popular Instagram page and set up sold-out pop-ups in the Merchant City, which saw queues of more than 300 trendy shoppers.

Katie Moody from Princes Square said: “With luxury sportswear being so popular and trainers now a staple in every wardrobe, we’ve been on the look-out for a brand like Empire for some time now.

"When we heard Taylor’s story, how he has built the brand online and his ideas for the future, we wanted to give him the very best start in retail with a store in Princes Square.”
