Met Office 'danger to life' warning upgraded to amber as gales set to batter Merseyside

An amber weather warning has been issued for Merseyside as winds are set to batter the region.

The Met Office upgraded the warning from yellow to amber today for "extremely strong winds" at 3am on Friday, February 18 as Storm Eunice is set to hit.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "There is a good chance that flying debris could result in a danger to life, damage to buildings and homes is likely, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down.

"Roads, bridges and railway lines are likely to close, with delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights."

Man stabbed three times by strangers outside Aldi

A man was stabbed three times in the buttocks outside Aldi.

Officers were called to a report a man had been attacked by a group of unknown people outside Aldi on Broad Green Road in Old Swan.

Detective Inspector Ben Dyer said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries after a man was seriously assaulted in Liverpool yesterday evening, and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the attack or was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious.

“The use of weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have devastating consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved."

Barbara Daley has announced her city centre salon is closing.

The award-winning hair and beauty salon, which shares Barbara’s name, is situated at Hardman Yard, a part of Hope Street Hotel.

The hairdresser shared an image from Winnie The Pooh with the following caption: “Dear friends and clients. All good things must come to an end and sadly we are closing our salon in Hardman Yard on the 19th March.

"A massive thank you for all your years of loyalty to barbara daley salons. Love and best wishes Barbara & Paul xx”.
