Amber Heard has welcomed a baby daughter via surrogate.
The Aquaman actress, 35, announced the happy news on her Instagram account on Thursday night by sharing a photo of herself and her daughter.
In the caption of her post she confirmed she had named her daughter Oonagh Paige Heard, and said the little one was born on April 8 this year.
Amber appears to have become a mother via surrogacy as she was not visibly pregnant when she had been seen in recent months.
In the photo she shared, Amber was cuddling her baby daughter, who slept soundly on her chest.
Amber captioned the photo: "I'm so excited to share this news with you.
"Four years ago, I decided I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms.
"I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way.
"I hope we arrive at a point in which it's normalised to not want a ring in order to have a crib.
"A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone's business.
"I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this.
"My daughter was born on April 8, 2021. Her name is Oonagh Paige Heard.
"She's the beginning of the rest of my life."
The name Oonagh is Scottish and means pure and holy.
Her middle name is for Amber's late mother Paige, who died last year.
In her caption, Amber said she decided she wanted to become a mother four years ago.
Her baby girl was born five years after she split from Johnny Depp, who she was married to from 2015 to 2016.
Following her bitter split from her husband, Depp, she is now in a relationship with moviemaker Bianca Butti.
The couple has been dating since January last year.
The birth comes after Heard lost her mum, Paige Parsons, in May 2020 at the age of 63, saying at the time she was "heartbroken and devastated beyond belief."
She called her mother "the most beautiful woman I had ever known" in an Instagram post, adding: "It's hard to imagine and even more difficult to say, but I feel truly lucky to have been her daughter and been given the gift of having the light she shone on everyone, fall on me for nearly 34 years."
At the time, Heard thanked her family and friends for helping her and her sister, Whitney, during the "unbelievably painful time."
Her mother's death came just weeks before she faced Depp, 58, in London's High Court in a three-week trial in July last year.
She gave evidence against the Pirates of the Caribbean star, who eventually lost his libel case against The Sun newspaper over an article that labelled him a "wife-beater."
The judge found that Depp had assaulted Heard on a dozen occasions and put her in "fear for her life" three times.
