Amber Heard insists 'things I have been through are not going to stop my career'

Amber Heard has revealed the issues in her life she has "been through", including her highly-publicised multimillion-dollar lawsuit with ex-husband Johnny Depp, are "certainly not gonna stop my career".

The actress, 37, admitted she has had to learn over time that she is not always "in control of stories other people create" around her, but has vowed it will not stop her.

The Aquaman star was sued last year by her Pirates of the Caribbean ex for defamation.

The case came after she penned an article in 2018 for the Washington Post and Johnny's lawyers said it accused him of being an abuser despite no names being mentioned in the piece.

Following an intense six-week trial in Fairfax County, Virginia, jurors returned a verdict in the actor's favour.

Then, in December, Amber revealed she had decided to make a "very difficult decision" an reach a settlement in the case.

It's thought that such a settlement saw Amber hand Johnny $1million, which he will reportedly divide between five charities.

And now Amber is focusing on her own career once again and was at the Taormina film festival in Sicily this week to promote her first major film since the trial titled In The Fire.

Johnny's latest project, Jeanne Du Barry, was also set to screen at the event.

But, Amber revealed to Deadline that she was at the festival to "support a movie" and nothing else.

She told the publication: "A big thing I had to learn,(was) that I’m not in control of stories other people create around me.

"That’s something that probably I’ll appreciate as a blessing further down the line. Right now, I just kind of want to not have, you know, stones thrown at me so much.

"I’m here to support a movie. And that’s not something I can be sued for."

Continuing to discuss her long career, she added: "What I have been through, what I’ve lived through, doesn’t make my career at all. And it’s certainly not gonna stop my career."

Amber's new film is set in 1899 and follows a 38-year-old American psychiatrist who is called to solve the case of a disturbed child in Columbia after severe accusations that the child is in fact the Devil.
