Baby girl from Cessnock found safe near Armidale

A four-month-old baby who was the subject of an Amber alert after she was taken from Cessnock in the NSW Hunter Region has been found, police have said.

Authorities earlier said two women and a man entered a home at Bellbird and took the baby girl and put her in a vehicle.

The car was last seen heading west and possibly towards the Queensland border.

Police had asked the public to be on alert and report any sightings of the vehicle or the three people.

In a statement at 9:55pm, police said the girl had been safely located near Armidale.

Two women and a man are currently in police custody and are assisting with inquiries.
