4-year-old boy in vehicle stolen from Bridgeview found safe

Liam Barbarasa | Bridgeview police

A missing 4-year-old boy who was in a vehicle when it was stolen at a gas station Monday in southwest suburban Bridgeview has been found.

Liam Barbarasa was located safely in Chicago and taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital for evaluation, Bridgeview spokesman Ray Hanania said Monday night.

According to Chicago police, officers approached a suspicious vehicle which was blocking a fire hydrant about 9:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue and found the boy inside “seemingly unharmed.”

Earlier, the child had been sitting in a blue 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette van when it was stolen about 5:35 p.m. while the driver went in to the 7-Eleven gas station at 7901 S. Roberts Rd. to get food, Hanania said.

The person who took the van hasn’t been located, police said.

Bridgeview police are investigating.
