Amazon Web Services down causing problems with Prime, Ring, Disney Plus and more

If you're trying to do some online Christmas shopping tonight then you may be disappointed as Amazon is facing technical difficulties.

There have been widespread reported issues with Amazon Web Services which many websites rely on, meaning the likes of Prime Video, Ring and Disney Plus are also having problems.

The issues seem to have begun at around 4.30pm with DownDetector showing that North America, parts of Europe and Asia are all experiencing issues.

More than 9,000 incidents have been reported.

Customers of the services have taken to Twitter to complain.

Nousheen said: "All of Amazon Web Services are down - taking huge part of the internet with it. All apps and IoT on the Amazon Cloud server facing outage."

Kimberley said: " Amazon down too? Sheesh. Can’t make money or spending money right now."

Another user said: "Alexa won't turn my lights on or anything either. AWS being down affects a huge amount of websites and services."

Renee said: "Glad to know it's not just me. I'm having issues as well. I was in the middle of listening to music on Amazon when it went down. I can't even access my home server for the music on my computer right now through Amazon Alexa."

Amazon are yet to comment on the issues.
