NEW DELHI: Amazon is looking to absorb a majority of employees of one of its top sellers, Cloudtail, said three people in know of the matter. The rest are expected to be deployed at other sellers the company is planning to onboard on its platform. “Working in Cloudtail is equivalent to working in Amazon, so the employees at both companies are familiar with each other’s operations,” said a source.
Amid regulatory scrutiny of foreign online marketplaces in India, Cloudtail decided to cease operations in May next year.
An Amazon spokesperson told TOI, “While the approval from the regulator is awaited, the business of JV as well as Cloudtail shall continue. Employees continue to remain an integral part of the JV. Partners will work on a plan for finding opportunities for JV employees within various businesses of Amazon.”
