Amazon Studios is ready to tempt fate, signing a first-look television deal with Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions, formalizing the companies' burgeoning relationship.
In April, Amazon announced that it had greenlit "Lorena," a four-part documentary series centered around Lorena Bobbitt, produced by Monkeypaw. The following month the studio announced a straight-to-series order for another Monkeypaw collaboration, "The Hunt," a Nazi-hunting drama series created by David Weil.
"Jordan, Win Rosenfeld, and the Monkeypaw team represent the ideal creative collaboration as we continue to ramp up original, culturally relevant and riveting television," Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, said in a statement released Tuesday.
"Our Lorena Bobbitt documentary and series order for 'The Hunt' represent just the start of what will be a prolific and exciting relationship with Monkeypaw."
Peele shared similar sentiments on Tuesday.
"I couldn't be more excited about this new relationship with Amazon. They've been a fantastic partner to Monkeypaw over the last year because they're committed to the same kind of fun and culturally relevant television we are," he said in a statement.
The deal continues a banner year for Peele, whose directorial film debut, "Get Out," earned four Oscar nominations, with Peele taking home the award for original screenplay in March.
