Online retail giant Amazon has cut the price of hand sanitiser as demand for the cleansing gel rockets.
Earlier today Boots said it was limiting sales of of hand sanitiser to two per person as shoppers report empty shelves in many locations, reports the Mirror.
According to the Mirror, a sign in Boots on High Street Kensington says: "Due to high demand we are only selling two hand sanitisers per person. Sorry for any inconvenience."
However, stock is still available online and Amazon has now stepped in to offer cut-price professional hand wash for a limited time. The sale includes six bottles of Carex Professional Handwash for £11.99, down from £15.99. Meanwhile giant 5L bottles of anti-bacterial handwash are being sold for £9.18 on the site.
Boots itself is selling Carex Hand Get 50ml bottles for £1 and Cuticara bottles for three for two, which works out at £3 for three.
Sales of hand sanitiser have rocketed in the wake of reports of the Coronavirus in several European countries. The virus, which originated in Wuhan, China, has now spread to countries including South Korea and Iran, while in Europe, there have been 400 cases and 12 deaths in Italy.
A total of 13 cases have been confirmed for the UK.
A spokesperson for Boots said: "The best way to help prevent catching a virus is by making sure that you regularly wash your hands with soap, and avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth to prevent transmission from surfaces, especially after blowing your nose, sneezing and coughing.
"Antiviral hand foams and gel can also be useful when you are out and about."
