Amazon slash 50% off its £60 Echo Dot speaker - now down to just £30

Amazon has cut the price of one of its popular Alexa speakers by half price - but the discount is only available until the end of the day (July 6th).

This means you can get your hands on an Amazon Echo Dot for £29.99, rather than the usual price of £60.

What's more, it's the third-generation Echo Dot, which is more advanced than previous models.

It boasts improved audio, better voice control and has a more attractive design.

We've had a look online and Currys is also selling the third-generation Echo Dot for £29.99.

Meanwhile, eBay is selling the same model for £36.99 with free delivery.

The Echo is built with far-field voice recognition technology that lets it hear your voice from well across the room.

Simply say the speaker's 'wake word' (Alexa), and she will start listening to your voice.

Alexa can not only play music or radio and make phone calls, but will even read your Kindle books or audiobooks out loud.

Even better, she can connect to third-party services like Domino's too.

You can also use it to control smart home gadgets, such as connected Dyson vacuum cleaners, or smart lightbulbs like Philips Hue or Hive Active Lights.

She even comes with a selection of games and quizzes to test your knowledge when you're bored.

Shoppers will need to be quick if they want to take advantage of Amazon's 50% off deal, as it ends at 11:59pm today.

Meanwhile, Currys has launched its 'biggest ever clearance sale' online and in stores.

The retail giant has slashed prices on thousands of branded items with discounts of up to 40% off.

On June 15, it reopened 131 stores across the UK after Boris Johnson relaxed lockdown measures to allow non-essential shops to resume business operations.
