A rugby fan was left bewildered when he was told he could not access Amazon's Autumn Nations Cup because he was based in Northern Ireland and not the UK.
Chris Jones was sent in circles when he struck up a conversation with an Amazon help assistant in a bid to access the rugby video package.
The Northern Irish resident explained he had a Prime membership but that he was unable to find the rugby on his app or smart TV.
But his quest for answers only ended in further confusion when he was told the service was exclusive to UK members and not to Northern Ireland (apparently unaware of the Good Friday Agreement).
The Twitter sphere was left baffled by Amazon's response, where the customer was forced to point out "Northern Ireland is part of the UK."
In his opening enquiry, Chris tweeted: "I'm a prime subscriber but I can't find the rugby on my app or smart TV. What could be the issue?
"I'm in the UK by the way - Northern Ireland."
In their prompt response, an Amazon Help exec apologised for the conundrum and began investigating the issue.
The helpful customer pointed out he had set up his account in the Republic of Ireland, and not in the UK, but was now based in Northern Ireland.
But after further investigation, the exec said he could not access the service because they only had broadcasting rights for the UK.
Speaking on Twitter, the spokesperson said: "We apologise but upon reviewing your location you're in Northern Ireland.
"Rugby Autumn Nations Cup coverage is exclusively available to Prime members based in the UK. We don't have the rights to other territories.
"Many apologies but, we don't have the broadcast rights for Ireland or other territories."
Fellow Twitter users were appalled by Amazon's Twitter response while others saw the funny side, offering maps and geography tips.
One person said: "Appalling Chris. The state of AmazonUK."
Another person joked: "But, but, it's called northern 'Ireland'."
While another added: "What school did you go to? I'd ask for my money back. I can send you a map of you like."
After three hours of to-ing and fro-ing with the online representative, some urged the Amazon customer to "give it up.
While others admired his patience.
One person said: "Give it up Chris. Amazon obviously know what the direction of travel is."
Another said: "Haha @_chrisjones_ The patience of a Saint! Made made really laugh when I looked at your bio..... "man of few words". Not in this case!"
One person commented: "We are part of the UK. I mean personally I don't care about being Irish or British, and don't particularly care about a United Ireland either way, but we are literally part of the UK for now surely?"
While another added: "No surrender Chris."
