Amazon's Premier League coverage leaves fans fuming as some streams hit with buffering wheel of doom

Amazon's Premier League coverage left some fans fuming last night as viewers complained about poor connections and slow upload times.

The streaming giant kicked off their month-long coverage with Burnley vs Crystal Palace.

Amazon will broadcast 20 matches between December 3 and 5 and December 26 and 27, 2019, Birmingham Live reports.

Alan Shearer and Michael Owen were part of the punditry line-up, which also featured Nigel de Jong and Roberto Martinez.

The coverage was met with furious fans blasting crippling technical difficulties and having to continuously refresh their browsers. But some loved it and said they thought the coverage was top class.

One Twitter account wrote: "Dreadful have to reload all the time get about 50 seconds of second rate picture quality then freezes. Terrible will have to look at illegal streams to watch the Merseyside derby tomorrow. This is a farce, Should be barred from bidding next time."

Another, posting a picture of a blank screen, said: "Hey @primevideosport I'm trying to watch the footy. I've had this screen on my Apple TV and my BT box all night despite the content being reloaded a million times. Please sort this before the derby tomorrow or you're going to kill me."

Another tweeted: “2 minutes behind this amazon prime ****. Load of *******.”

Other users weren't quite so negative, with some praising Amazon's entry into the UK football market.

One wrote: "Amazon Prime is everything I've wanted football viewing to be for years! I would pay them for every single game!"

Another said: "@amazon @primevideosport @AmazonUK You guys absolutely smashed it with the @premierleague."

Amazon Prime members can watch live Premier League football on hundreds of devices using the Prime Video app. Customers can watch online, on mobile devices, tablets, through games consoles, smart TVs and through systems like BT TV.
