Amazon's best deals that are actually good value for money

Amazon is a bit like a sofa seller at times. The online giant always has a sale on something and the discounts are usually available all year round.

From big sale events like Amazon Prime Day, which is likely to take place in July this year, and the massive Black Friday sales to daily 'Lightning deals', Amazon very rarely sells things for their recommended retail prices. It means savvy shoppers can get big discounts on everything from electrical items to fashion and beauty products.

There is also an elephant in the room. Many of the hundreds of thousands of Amazon discounts are not actually that good. For example, an Echo Dot for £25.99 is a good enough deal but it's unlikely to ever go higher than that this year. In fact, it could drop to as little as £13.99 in Prime Day and Black Friday sales and it can be paired with other discounts like the £10 new member cashback offer at Topcashback to reduce the price further. So there is no rush to buy one now.

Other deals such as £180 for a Shark vacuum is another big discount but it will probably be even cheaper in July when Prime Day begins.

Are there any good deals in the Amazon sale? After five years of covering Amazon's sales I have picked out a few that are actually worth snapping up.

Remington Shine Advanced Therapy Hair Straighteners - £25 down from £80.

The reviews for the £25 Remington straighteners are almost universal full of praise and many favourably compare them to the much more expensive GHD straighteners that are often seen as market leading.

But don't take the word of anonymous reviewers at face value. Instead, take a look at what my colleague and review expert Rebecca says about the straighteners:

She says: "Straightaway I was amazed with the results. I am used to having to hike up the temperature on cheap straighteners to get results, and sacrifice hair health, but even on the lowest setting of 150 degrees, these worked wonders. I wish I could be more critical, but the straighteners were honestly faultless. It took me under 10 minutes to straighten all my hair and felt like a process I could happily add into my morning routine.

"I have found a GHD alternative for almost £100 less, so it only seemed fair to share."

You can can the Remington straighteners here.

Anker Life Soundcore wireless headphones - £25.99 down from £35.99

There are plenty of wireless headphones on offer on Amazon. There always are.

The Anker Life Soundcore stand out because I have tried and tested them. They are comfortable, well-designed headphones with excellent sound quality, lots of bass and plenty of battery life. I have been highly recommending these for some time and a price of £25.99 is the lowest I have seen them.

However, you may also want to try the various £10-£15 headphones if you are looking for a budget set. These can be handy if, like me, you are constantly losing wireless headphones.

You can get the Anker headphones here.

Duronic Air Fryer - £50, down from £100

Air fryers are big business. The market leader is probably Ninja and if you are serious about your air frying you should be looking to pay around £180 for one of the Ninja options.

If you just want to dip your toe into the water then the Duronic Air Fryer is a nice introductory offer at £50 for 4.5-litres. That allows you to cook for four people and save money because it is actually cheaper to use an air fryer compared to an over, as MEN reporter Kate found.

She says: "The cost of using the oven for 41 minutes at 200C was a staggering 42p, over double the price it cost to use the air fryer."

At half price and reduced from £99, this is a great offer if you are new to the world of air frying. It is on sale here.
